My most favorite food aroma coming from my oven is apples and cinnamon, my next favorite is banana cake. Oh the wafting that was going on in my kitchen today! To Read More, Click On The Recipe Title.
This is a very moist dense banana cake made with shortening, 1 1/4 cups of mashed bananas and a cup of sour cream. The kids loved it! The recipe called for walnuts in the cake but hubby doesn't like them so I decided to make a nutty tasting brown butter glaze to put on top. This little gem came from Taste Of Home website and is totally worth your time. It's easy and delicious, it doesn't get any better than that!

Both really look good but I think the cake really sounds fantastic.
Very interesting chicken, cinnamon isn't what I associate with chicken, certainly sounds good! and.. oh that cake... now I want a slice! ;-)
OMGosh! Everything looks so good...I will definitely be trying both...I'm glad you tried it with chicken breast because that is something I always have on hand...as for the cake, now I know why I bought two bunches of bananas at Costco instead of one!
I saw that recipe on Oprah too and thought,,,,cinnamon on chicken, hmmm. I'm glad you tried it first, lol. Looks delicious!
Oh dang a lang both sound delicious. The chicken and cake....OMG!
Yummy chicken! What an amazing cake. Look at that glaze.

Looks like a fabulous meal! I'll have to give it a try!
I'd give anything to come to dinner at your house. The chicken was already tempting, but then I saw the cake...yum!
That looks wonderful! But, alas, here in NZ, shortening is not something generally found in stores. Could I just substitute real butter?
Where do I begin!! The chicken dish looks amazing, and sounds delciious! HOWEVER, that bundt cake is my kinda thing to bake! I am planning on doing that this weekend. I have nice black bananas just waiting to be used for this!! YUM!! Thanks!
Good grief, what are you trying to do to me! Now I have to go out to get the ingredients to make that YUMMY goodie!
Dinner and dessert! How fabulous! I love the idea of the cinnamon rub!! I can't wait to try this dish; it looks delicious. And of course, that bundt cake and glaze look awesome; I'm a sucker for a good bundt cake.

Oh, how pretty your chicken is! You are so funny: the bumper of a car! As I was reading about the cinnamon rub, I was thinking, oh, that's very Greek-- then I re-read the title of the recipe, duh! I love to use cinnamon in savory dishes. I used to put it in my mac and cheese and call it Greek Mac and Cheese! Yeah, I know I'm weird, but I enjoy experimenting with unexpected flavors. (Of course, if you are Greek, not unexpected at all.)
I'll have to be trying your glorious cake soon! I have a weakness for brown butter. Thanks for sharing your wonderful, delightful recipes!
What an amazing mix of flavors. From Cat's recipe to the cake with the glaze. Bunny, I think I gained some weight looking at it. SInce I have not had breakfast yet, I am totally drooling.
I see both of these gracing my table in the near future. YUM!!! :)
Ilove chicken, and this dish is new to me but it looks so yumm and that cake wow that is just pure pleasure to have a sllice.
I'm printing out both those recipes and trying them. I always have tons of bananas around and love banana bakes. The chicken sounds great too!
I saw that episode too. When Cat mentioned cinnamon, I thought that was very interesting. Now I certainly have to try this. And that cake,I want some!
I never tried her recipe, but it does sound delicious.
Your banana cake look so tempting as well.

I saw that show and wondered what the chicken and cinnamon would taste like. It looks delicious! And that cake looks addictive! I'm going to make these soon!
Oh my goodness, both recipes look FANTASTIC. I just bought some chicken breasts too but I think I'll be making the Cinnamon Chicken instead. And that bundt cake? Hold me back...I love anything with browned butter.
Great post!!
I would have never thought about cinnamon on chicken. How cool!
And I love that bundt cake. I want to try it!
'tis no surprise to me that cinnamon complements chicken--it's a powerful and magical ingredient.
meanwhile, that cake looks scrumptious, and the glaze deserves a bowl and a spoon itself. :)
Bunny, sounds great all around! I will have to try both!
at first i thought the bananas went with the chicken and i was a little scared! these sound delicious. that brown butter glaze has my full attention :)
Okay, if this isn't creative I don't know what it. I was enjoying the chicken, thinking about the unique ingredient, and then I got to the cake and practically fell out of my chair!! As soon as we legalize sugar in my kitchen again this is what I'm making!! LOL!!!
I caught the tail end of that Oprah episode. Was a bit skeptical about cinnamon and chicken...but good to hear your endorsement of it.
The bundt cake looks sinfully delicious. I could definitely envision myself returning for "just one more sliver".
oh my goodness! That cake is amazing :)
The chicken looks amazing - I love the addition of cinnamon too! The brown butter glaze sounds like it would compliment the cake perfectly!
Cinnamon is used in Greek stews and in Cyprus we use cinnamon in nearly all our savory recipes. I just love it. That cake sounds delicious as well.
Wow, that cake looks good, the glaze is amazing!
Fantastic! I love both! That bundt cake looks divine!
These recipes are winners as always. I really must try that chicken.
I loooovvvvee banana cake. The glaze is a nice touch.

This chicken and cake both sound WONDERful!
That chicken looks so delicious! I'd never thought of chicken and cinnamon together until I had chicken seasoned with cinnamon at a Morrocan restaurant. It's such a yummy and different combo.
I can't wait to try this.
oh goodness the bunt cake just sounds awesome!
Hi Bunny,
I saw this on Oprah. Cat Cora is my favorite Iron chef.
I think Oprah would have loved your whole menu more though!
Yum to the dinner and YUM-O to the dessert!
MMMMMMM!!! I never thought of rubbing cinnamon on chicken before, but would LOVE to try this out! sounds amazing, and I can't even imagine the aroma that must be wafting from this dish! I'm glad to meet a cat cora fan. a lot of ppl don't seem to give her enough recognition and respct.
When I read the title of this post I thought you were combining chicken and bananas and cream bundt cake... Which would've been interesting! Anyway the cake looks deeelicious.
You're right the chicken does make one's mouth water. yum!
Oh my. I'd try some of that bundt cake right about now. Just a little piece please! YUMMY!
Oh wow! This is pure comfort food to me! I think the chicken sounds like a cross between Greek and southern food... exactly something Cat would make.
The cake looks killer!
Oh my is this ever a meal that I would have liked to be at! Chicken looks so amazing and flavorful and that cake looks too scrumptious!
I am printing the chicken dish as I write this because I am a huge lover of cinnamon. I put a lot of it in my morning lattes. The flavors in it sounds so good.
Bunny, I made your Banana cake and the amazing Brown Butter glaze. We love, love, love it!I love banana bread and this glaze just takes it way over the top! I took pics, but they aren't near as good as yours, so I don't know yet if I'll post it. But thanks for an awesome recipe!

This past weekend I baked that absolutely delicious, moisty Bananas & Cream Bundt Cake! I drizzled a lemon glaze on top and will definitely bake this cake for my family to enjoy again. It was so good!
I made the bananas and cream bundt cake and brown butter glaze. It was sinfully delicious! So moist. It will be made again for company.
Thanks for the recipe!
For some unexplained reason, I suddenly developed an aversion to banana bread. I don't understand, because I LOVE bananas! This recipe, I think, would change my mind. The sour cream is intriguing and I love the frosting. Great recipe!
